Abstract

This study proposes a comprehensive framework to enhance the performance appraisal of healthcare assistants during the COVID-19 pandemic and future public health crises. The unprecedented challenges faced by healthcare workers during the pandemic highlighted the need for effective performance evaluation systems that reflect the evolving roles and responsibilities of healthcare assistants. This research identifies key performance indicators (KPIs) tailored to the unique demands of crisis situations, including adaptability, teamwork, patient care quality, and communication skills. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, the study assesses existing appraisal processes, identifies gaps, and evaluates best practices from various healthcare settings. The proposed framework emphasizes continuous feedback, professional development opportunities, and mental health support to improve overall performance and job satisfaction among healthcare assistants. The findings aim to provide actionable recommendations for healthcare organizations to implement robust appraisal systems that not only enhance workforce performance but also ensure better patient outcomes during pandemics and other emergencies.
